US PTO issues Notice of Allowance to SecuGen for Core Hardware Patent

Santa Clara, CA (July 30, 2004) - SecuGen is pleased to announce that one of its key hardware patent applications entitled, "Compact Optical Fingerprint Capturing and Recognition System" has been recently allowed by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Once issued, this patent will be the fourth patent granted to SecuGen that relates to the SecuGen's fundamental fingerprint sensor technology.

SecuGen sensors are recognized throughout the world for their unmatched durability, accuracy, image quality and performance in a wide variety of operating environments. Products and technologies based on SecuGen patents including this recently allowed one may be licensed only from SecuGen, the sole and exclusive owner of those patents. Previous patents issued to SecuGen include "High Contrast, Low Distortion Optical Acquisition System for Image Capturing," "Surface Treatment for Optical Image Capturing System," and "Method and Apparatus for Reduction of Trapezoidal Distortion and Improvement of Image Sharpness in an Optical Image Capturing System." These patents have also been granted, allowed or are pending in countries outside of the US as well. SecuGen has eleven additional patents pending in the areas of software, hardware design, algorithms, and manufacturing in the US and other countries.
