SecuGen's Hamster III USB fingerprint scanner is the first biometric device to receive Microsoft "Designed for Microsoft Windows Server 2003" logo

Santa Clara, CA (August 14, 2003) - SecuGen Corporation, one of the world's leading providers of biometric fingerprint recognition systems, announced today that its Hamster III USB fingerprint device is now a "Designed for Microsoft Windows Server 2003" and "Designed for Microsoft Windows XP" approved product. The desktop fingerprint scanner passed Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Lab's compatibility testing to earn the logos and listing on Microsoft's Windows Catalog and Microsoft Windows Server Catalog web sites. The Microsoft certified device driver for SecuGen Hamster III is now available for download on Microsoft's Windows Update web site and will be included in future Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP Service Packs.

"SecuGen is the first biometric vendor to achieve the Designed for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 logo approval," says Dan Riley, vice president of software development for SecuGen. "We remain committed to providing quality drivers for our devices and maintaining tight integration with Microsoft products, both current and future. We will continue to support industry standards and certification to protect our customers' investment in technology and minimize their risk."

Microsoft offers the Windows Logo Program for Hardware to help customers identify systems and peripherals that meet a baseline definition of platform features and quality goals that provide a good Windows experience for the end user. Products earning the "Designed for Windows" logo have been tested by Microsoft to ensure that they meet Microsoft standards for compatibility with the Windows operating systems designated on the logo and that all components install and uninstall properly and do not interfere with other system components.

Jeff Brown, director of sales at SecuGen, states, "The Hamster remains one of our most popular devices for fingerprint authentication in a variety of applications in government, financial services, healthcare and many other sectors. Now that the Hamster III carries the Designed for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Designed for Microsoft Windows Server XP logos, customers can be assured that the product maintains the high quality standards that SecuGen has always been committed to."
