SecuGen Corporation, one of the world's leading providers
of biometric fingerprint recognition systems, announced
today that its USB Hamster fingerprint device is now a
"Designed for Microsoft Windows XP" approved product.
The desktop fingerprint scanner passed Microsoft Hardware
Quality Lab's compatibility testing to earn the logo and
listing on Microsoft's Hardware Compatibility List web
site. The Hamster device driver is now available for download
on Microsoft's Windows Update web site at www.windowsupdate.com
and will be included in future Windows XP Service Packs.
The Hamster can be found on Microsoft's Windows Catalogue
web site under "Biometrics".

XP approval," states Dan Riley, vice president of software
development for SecuGen. "As a recognized leader in the
fingerprint biometrics area, SecuGen is committed to industry
standards and approvals to protect our customers' investment
in technology and minimize their risk."
Microsoft offers the Windows Logo
Program for Hardware to help customers identify systems
and peripherals that meet a baseline definition of platform
features and quality goals that provide a good Windows
experience for the end user. Products earning the "Designed
for Windows" logo have been tested to ensure that they
meet Microsoft standards for compatibility with the Windows
operating systems designated on the logo and that all
components install and uninstall properly and do not interfere
with other system components.
Jim Sortino, vice president of
sales at SecuGen, states, "The Hamster is our most popular
device for authentication in enterprise network security.
Customers in government, financial services, and healthcare
use the Hamster to increase security and user convenience
